Hi guys, im confussed about what video card to get to run conan, im getting alot of jargon thrown at me and sites ive been on have been next to useless as they dont seem to put it in lehmans terms.

I own a DELL Dimension 5100
i have a pentium 4 3ghz processor which im told can handle conan
I only have windows XP not Vista
which specific video card should i get?

Every card ive looked at on the net hasnt got pixel shading or requires vista it seems or is ''Vista ready''??? is that the same thing?

PLEASE HELP ME!!! - i'm going nuts

Hey Rob,

Ill try to help, XP or Vista doesnt matter. Well, vista can handle DirectX10, but for that you need a graphics card, so all in all.. XP or Vista doesnt matter.

Memory, 2GB RAM is recommended. Memory prices today are very low so buy 1Gb extra should not be much.

Graphic card, VISTA ready means it actually works with VISTA, yeah... its just selling-points... dont worry about that. Pixel shading is ... done by all cards, but the better card the better shading. think 3.0 is the best today.
As i have said before, you need a Geforce 7XXX card to run it, if you can get a Geforce 8 its even better, in sweden there are nice Geforce 8600 cards but then if you wallet allows it, go for a Geforce 8800GTS card.
I am only talking Geforce here, cause i have no clue about ATI cards

I am running the game on a Geforce 7300GS 256Mb.. now this is a very crappy card and i am able to run the game on lowest settings with 20fps.. the game still looks like a painting but i cant see as far or grass.. but still runs great

Haven't read up on video cards recently, but if things are like they were when I bought mu last one, don't fall for one of the cheap ATI ones. While the specs may look good, it'll overheat and just not run very well. And... Nvidia just seems to be so much better for gaming, these days.

Absolutely horrible. Only just got acces to tha interwebs this morning! I was suffering from seriuos withdrawals by then, and I'm still shaking a little. Apart from that, it went quite good. Got all our stuff moved and the old apartment cleaned in a day. Yesterday we went to Ikea (the swedish capital, ya know) and got hold of two house altars (one for the stereo and tv, and one for Dimma's PC) and a display stand for our warhammer miniatures. In short, our new home gets close to zero points in estethical value, but the geek score is pretty high Smile

Good to hear your move went well. And beauty is in the eye of the examiner.
Dressari showed up in Eve and joined the university, while Im just leaving the Uni to join the new factional warfare stuff, though I brought my alt into the uni to keep contact.

I liked helping at moves from friends, its kinda funny to see how well (or not) they organice it, though I cringe at the thought to move (again). I think I moved enough for a while, though when my GF moves to my place, we might need to look out for a bigger appartment in the long run o.O.

How many of those WarHammer figures do you have ? Must have taken hours to pack them up and then but them on display again Very Happy .
